I thought maybe I'd like this book more on the second try, several years after the first try.

But I found it just as obnoxious as the first time. Only difference is I had managed to somehow forget just how bad this book was.

I'm sorry, the very first time Bill and Sookie had an conversation. He goes "well don't you want to drink that vampire blood that gives you a major sex boner?"
And then, second conversation was "well how do you have sex with people if you can read their thoughts?"

My god I want to hit him over the head with a baseball bat. THIS is what you find charming Sookie? Girl, your inability to read this guys thought is brainwashing you into thinking this is okay. Not to mention this is exactly the kind of terrible things you're complaining about hearing people think.

The only slightly redeeming thing about this book is that it had a somewhat realistic sibling relationship where you had two siblings that didn't quite like each other, despite loving each other because they're family. Tho, even there I got a little tired of hearing something negative about her brother every time he entered the scene.
