My only criticism would be that it was far too short.
Edit 28/01/15 It also makes me realise how much I would like to know more about Alessandro Tarabotti and how he lead his life. The tone of the short story is different from the one we're confronted with in the Parasol Protectorate series but I wasn't expecting any differently because Alessandro is definitely a very different character from Alexia.
In addition I also liked that it centered around the God Breaker Plague and invited the possibility that there might have been other shapeshifters on earth.
