a very well written and plotted out mystery.

this series is more of a slower paced and plotted mystery style which i actually really enjoy if it’s done well. meaning that it’s not unnecessary stalled or just overly focused on things that don’t really matter.

penny really manages to find this very nice middle ground of slowly unreaving her plot but also letting the characters develop and letting the reader get to know the people and with that trying to figure out what happens on their own along with Gamachr and his team.

in this book i think it was pretty obvious who killed CC but it was so well done with all the other suspicious behaviors and secrets sound everyone that even thought i was sure who did it - and in the end right- i kept second guessing myself. which i actually like because that’s sometimes harder - to make the reader question what’s actually happening without just outright making everything too complex or confusing.

all in all i think this second book was better then the first one, and i really enjoyed it and look forward to getting my hands on the 3rd one once my library had it available for me.
