DNF @ 70%


Ok I know this is really far into a book to DNF, but I really can’t stand the MMC. At first I was a little charmed and equally exasperated by how fucking stupid he was, but the more I read on, the more he reminds me of every redneck I unfortunately have to see at school everyday. Basically Cash felt nothing like a book boyfriend and everything like a shitty irl boyfriend. Also I just know this man would say every homophobic slur he knows to me, and voted for Trump in both elections. With that knowledge, I honestly can’t stand him further. Listen, I love himbo book men, they’re my favorite breed of book men. But I can’t stand rednecks so Cash is where I draw the line. This fictional town is just too close to home for me (literally lmao) and I can’t stand reading this further.

I’ve been interested in trying this author for awhile, but I also didn’t really enjoy the writing style. It was very self-indulgent and we just sit in a characters head for 3+ pages which just bored me to death. Even if I finished this book, it still wouldn’t have gotten a high rating. L
