Gwendy's Magic Feather
by Richard Chizmar
What a disappointment! I get why King didn't wanted to be a part of it! For me this book is about making money on a «franchise» name. The first Gwendy book was about the mystery of the box, so I was expecting to find a bit of that here because we were left out with some unanswered questions. But we get very few things here. This book is mostly about Gwendy life and the rest is fill with stuff to try to make an intrigue out of it. There is children disappearance, Gwendy's mother health issues, a bit of politic, etc. and all of it to what purpose? I honestly don't know. If Gwendy have been the most interesting characters I would get why getting back to her might sound like a good idea, but for me she isn't and so this book didn't felt good to me. There's few mystery, lot of fillers, a very average writing and I think it could have done a decent short story, but not a novel or novella of 200 pages.
I wouldn't recommend it, except if you think that Gwendy is an amazing characters and that you really want to get more of her, in that case, read it and you'll probably like it. If you're looking for more of that weirdness mysterious box vibes of the first one, you're probably better to pass on it.
