Notes on an Execution
by Danya Kukafka
This one came highly recommended to me by @basicbsguide and @itsbooktalk and they both liked the audio version and I’m so glad they gave me the heads up on that. This was such a slow burn and quietly powerful book that had I tried it in print I don’t think it would’ve been as impactful for me. The audio narration was fantastic, so keep that in mind for sure!
There were several super interesting perspectives here that told such a heartbreaking and disturbing story. You have Ansel, a killer on death row scheduled to die in a few hours, his mother Lavendar, Hazel his wife’s twin and Saffy a detective and each point of view was equally engaging for me. I found it thought provoking and powerful, it would be a great book club pick for sure. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
