strangenessbooks 's review for:
City of Heavenly Fire
by Cassandra Clare
I'm free. Finally free. Okay, I could have quit this book, this series anytime I wanted. Probably should have at book four when it was reveal that Simon is just a f**k boy and that Jace and Clary are destined to be the most annoying couple in existent because Angst is the only character trait that Clare seems to know.
The Autistic Coding is pretty horrid too but I had no trust to start with. I was so done by this point that I confused the two sets of twins that are mistakenly introduced in this book. I was so done I was actively annoyed by Clare trying to make me care about Orphans while having Clary and Jace have yet another reason why they can't be together. Also knowing that there's no way I'm reading the next Series as it involves another Straight Forbidden Romance and after this series I'm done with Clare's take on that. I think the characters being in this book, really made me against reading their series.
My point was I listen to this at 2.50× and didn't rewind when I missed stuff so I'm not going to prend that played enough attention to do a deep Analysis on Protayal of Autism but it's bad. Like he might secretly be a demon bad. That's my two cents on it as Real Life Autistic person who was driven to fictional murder by this book. Yeah, Sebash is bad but if Jace went down with him then that might have been the happiest ending.
Okay, in Jace's defence. All the Shadow Hunters seem to be terrible people, so he somehow doesn't rank as the lowest, but what do you expect from Politicans.
I'm probably going to read the spin-offs but they was a reason I didn't keep buying the books blindly in this world. But I always had issues with this series and I was never that taken by Jace and Clary's romance because Incest is gross and don't need three addition books to drive that point home. They probably meant to be soul mates so that make it all okay. I really Like the Infernal Devices though, Jem and Tressa are pretty bad in this book. So this series somehow ruins everything.
In summary, I am done and I would have stabbed Jace in the heart in this book too, but with a Very long spear this .
My fully serious opinion is this book is too long to read unless you love this full series at every moment. The plot was too obvious to carry the angst of this book especially when Clare won't kill her Darlings.
