I really like Susanna Kearsley, but this one got a bit bogged down in the historical facts for my liking. I also got frustrated with the switching from tale to tale - just as I was really getting into the modern storyline we'd be back in the past and vice versa. I'm not sure why that didn't work so well, as I usually love time slip/travel types of stories. I actually put this on hold for a while and read other things, which is a sure sign of boredom. 3.5 stars but it didn't grab my attention like I wanted it to.
