This story is incredibly poignant as you might expect for the story of how a trans woman eventually became a US Senator (although this book ends before that.) I think that anyone who cares about the LGBT community should read this because it enables a unique perspective on change.
Before I read this book, I knew that Sarah's husband Andy died right after their wedding but I still felt the tension as they tried so desperately to confess their love for each other on a public stage. This book made me sob, and it simultaneously gave me hope for a better future.
