I didn't realize until after I started reading this book that it was a "spin off" type book from a previous book by this author. I've never read this author before, so I'll surely be looking for that book as well and hoping that it's ok that I read them out of order.

TBMLT tells of a boy who thinks he's screwed everything up in his life and no matter how hard he tries to do what's right and make amends for his past, he still seems to keep "failing" in his opinion. It's hard for him to see the good he's done or could do because his past is shadowing his view.

It's also about a girl who isn't really into giving people a fair shot because she's so worried they will let her down or that she will let them down. A girl who gives up pretty much everything for her family and makes sure that they are all taken care of when her parents are busy dealing with other things.

I have to admit to *slightly* wanting a different outcome for Tim and Cal, but I'm also incredibly pleased at how things did work out.
