A Dark, Fast-Paced Romance with Deadly Chemistry

Saving Scarlett by C.A. Varian is a fast-paced, dark romance that throws you into the twisted world of an assassin who ends up falling for his latest target—a bookstore owner with more secrets than shelves. Scarlett, with her relatable love for smutty monster romances (same, girl), is a heroine you can’t help but root for, especially as her connection with Bane (aka Ethan) starts to burn hot and fast.

Bane might be a killer, but he’s unexpectedly soft when it comes to Scarlett, his sister, and his adorable niece—a contrast that adds depth to his character. The chemistry between him and Scarlett sparks immediately, making it easy to fly through the pages just to see how their story unfolds. And if you’re like me, you’ll be eagerly waiting to see how Scarlett’s awful husband finally gets what’s coming to him.

While the plot moves quickly and has enough heat and danger to keep things interesting, the pacing sometimes skips over emotional buildup that could have made the story hit harder. Still, it’s a thrilling ride for fans of dark romance with morally gray heroes and fierce heroines.
