This is probably my favorite of the trilogy so far. Rin is such a complex character that I felt like the author did a great job of showing how trauma has affect her childhood development. I felt that their was a clear division between the characters. Which is wonderful to me because I tend to blend characters. Watching Rin deal with being a lab rat, used a weapon, navigating a crush, and being a leader was the best parts of this book. The author did a great job of showing how difficult it is to hold your emotional in and living with so much stress. Most all, this trilogy shows the realties of war and that often none of the key players hands are clean.
