Lust Poems For No One In Particular
by Sophie Hannah Cardin
lighthearted
fast-paced
The title was intriguing but I must not have looked inside the book before I bought it. This is a very fast read. Many of the poems are very short. I didn’t like that the poems weren’t titled or the rhyming in some of them. I enjoyed some of the longer ones but the ones I liked were few and far between. The repetition got annoying. Words that were repeated a lot include honey, water/sea or similar, summer, dark, and coffee. I don’t know if she was trying to go for a theme or something but the lack of word choice and different topics got annoying. There were some poems I read and thought This would be a good one to end on. But the book just kept going. The comma placement in some of the poems made them hard to understand.
