The Vine Witch
by Luanne G. Smith
This book has been on my shelf forever! It just never felt like the right time to read it. We follow Elena, a vine witch, who was cursed for 7 years before she finally freed herself. Finally returning to her family vineyard, she discovers that it's been sold to man of science that refuses to have anything to do with magic, there is a witch practicing deadly blood magic, and her hidden past is making her look like the culprit.
I enjoyed the story, but felt like the historical aspect wasn't hitting right for me. I feel like that's just because it's been a while since I've read a true historical. Jean-Paul and Elena definitely have a romance going, but the story focuses more on everything else.
I loved the friendships Elena made! I wanted more of Yvette and Sidra. I wasn't expecting the twist at the end, and wish it was more drawn out instead of rushing to conclude it. The real action came when Elena finally confronts the witch using blood magic, and Ooooh! That was my favorite part!
