The Maiden and Her Monster by Maddie Martinez
2.5
adventurous dark mysterious tense slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Loveable characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This book may have just not been for me, because the writing style (and also the combination of fantasy words and other foreign words that were mildly familiar) just confused me enough to not really get invested into any of the characters. Also there was no romantic tension. I will admit that there is a glossary on the author's website, but it was not in the book, so I was unaware of it until I went over to goodreads to write my review. I liked the idea of the book, but the execution of it just didn't pull me in enough to give it a higher rating, which honestly turned out to be disappointing, because I love sapphic books with folkloric and religious themes, and I was excited for this one. I might come back to it eventually armed with the author's glossary, but I fear that needing a separate website to understand a book isn't really the best thing for readers
