The Scholar

5 Star-- The Scholar by Dervla McTiernan

I thought I loved book 1, but book 2 was even better! I am realizing how disappointing it was to find this series now. If it would have been in three years there would be more books. However, I have to wait for 2020 for the next. But for those who love Jane Harper, I think you would love McTiernan.
-
What I Loved: Pretty much everything. I enjoyed the writing and the slow burn. This one was a little more predictable than book 1, but the execution was perfect. I love the use of Fisher in this book to be Reilly's sidekick hopefully going forward.
-
What I Didn't: I did not like what Hanley did and then we saw no fallout for her on that level. It felt like it was just there to create an unnecessary obstacle. It didn't hurt the plot, but honestly it did not do anything to make it better either.
-
Again, I recommend this book to anyone who likes Jane Harper.
