Seven Ways to Kill a King by Melissa Wright
3.75

I started this one fully in my vengeance era, and it delivered… mostly. That first king? I was rooting for her to succeed with everything in me. But as the story went on, Lettie started making choices that had me annoyed. Like girl, you’re smart, I know you are; so why would you think that was a good idea??

Cass, though? Adorable. I liked him from the moment he didn’t shake her off. He was adorable in his own quiet, patient way. And that little moment where he didn’t pull his hand away? Tiny detail, but it stuck with me. It was one of the few times Lettie had something gentle in the middle of all the blood and chaos, and I really liked that. He stayed consistent, even when everyone else was out here making deeply questionable life choices.

The ending though… I wanted to scream! I cannot believe the choices Lettie made. Like actually. And let me not even start on Mary because how did she not see any of this coming? For someone meant to be watching everything, she really dropped the ball. So yeah, I don’t know if I’ll read the sequel because that frustration is still fresh but I can’t say it was a bad ride. The pacing was solid, the vibes were right, and even when I was annoyed, I was still turning the pages. So maybe that says something.
