If you didn’t read my previous review of Sleeping Giants, you absolutely should. As I mentioned there, I didn’t ever expect this series to steal my heart like it did, or my soul more accurately. After I finished “Sleeping Giants” I rushed to get this one on hold at my library.
When I started the audiobook back up, I remember being confused, because for some reason I couldn’t remember exactly why the cliffhanger was so crazy. However, a benefit to doing this book on audio is that the cast of characters was the same, so I was able to place the voices and immediately remember what happened before.
I have a habit of consistently not enjoying second books in series. I usually love first books because of the immersion into the world, and understanding how the world works. I tend to like third books because we’ve kind of gotten through the lull that happens in second books. This is mirrored in my TV watching too, most of the time third seasons of television shows are my favorites (Breaking Bad excluded). However, this book completely shattered this for me. This book was jam packed with action, and story and character development that I just want more more more.
I don’t want to go into too much detail on the plot of this book, except to say that it was more amazing than the first, and a wild wild ride. I highly recommend this series, and can’t get enough of it. I need the third one NOW!
