Playing with Fire
by Gena Showalter
Playing With Fire was such a fun one and I had adored this one. It was such a delightful romance and this one just entertained me so much. There is something so endearing about reading a Gena Showalter, her books are so intriguing. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did. I haven't heard anything about this series or this one at all and it was one of those random picks through the library that I grabbed up and it instantly pulled me in.
Its an interesting set up, where the heroine gets poisoned with an experimental drug and finds herself with abilities of the elements of the earth and now people want her dead, and then comes in a man that will protect her, and there is instant chemistry between them. But they are on the run as there are other dangerous groups that want the heroine either to experiment on or to kill her as she is a danger to society.
I was really drawn to this one I did expect to have more steam. We don't actually see them actually do anything, although the chemistry is built up between them so it didn't feel that satisfying. But I was on board with their romance and I love how protective the hero is and is so instantly committed to her. I was also fascinated by the third party "Tanner" he was so hilarious and I am hoping he gets a book sometime. But I haven't read the series so I am not sure if he will as he is pretty young and immature. I really found the story so intriguing and I breezed through this one here. If you are looking for a quick and fun PNR, then you definitely need to grab this one up.
