Mmmm, this was good. Samantha Shannon smoothly slipped those of us who love The Roots of Chaos series back into this world of fire, brimstone, and brave hearts.

From page one, I felt as though a spell surrounded me and I was being guided through a previously hidden door in this universe. From the other books we know certain details and characters, but in this one we get a direct view of the rise of one of the favoured of the Nameless One.

The resurgence of this vicious, familiar creature is now detailed in a way that deepens the lore of this world. It makes you wonder about the events already written. Truthfully, all I want to do now is go reread The Priory of the Orange Tree. Especially now I have this build up fresh in my mind.

Among the Burning Flowers is a welcome addition to this series, one that snaps up your imagination and attention instantly.

Lovers of Samantha Shannon’s work have a new book to add to their favorites, and anyone who has not discovered her work as yet, well, they have a great starting point to dive into these Roots of Chaos.
