I like it a lot! I don't mean this to be a backhanded compliment, but my utter ignorance of high fantasy as a form prevented me from demanding too much from the story, which is frankly a flimsy scaffolding for the absolutely winning character banter and evocative writing. There were some patches drama that I found surprisingly emotional and wrenching.
