What I love about this book is that you either get it or you don't. I love the fact that I get it. I be all phony and try and try to come up with the underlying subtext and the hidden meaning behind Salinger's words but I don't know all that stuff and so I won't pretend I do. What i do know is that this is the book for any person who has ever felt, even fleeting, that they don't quite fit in. This is the book for the loner and the introvert and the kind of person who can walk around a city by themselves for a full day and have the best time. My opinion is that if you don't like this book, if you don't get it, then it's not the book for you. And that's okay. Don't be phony and pretend to like or try to like, just put it down, walk away, and leave it for that person who needs it. Leave it for a Holden Caulfield to find and i promise you they will thank you for it.
