Review: Two years ago I was reading "The Siren" in a hammock in Key West. It was probably one of the most memorable moments for me because I was learning about siren mythology right next to the ocean!

I don’t know why it took me so long to get to this book. I think I was afraid to read this because I worried it would fall short in comparison to my beloved "The Selection" series. But I’m here to tell you that while the two works are different, “The Siren” is just as magical in its own way.

As a college student myself, it was refreshing to read about characters my own age. I think that is why I became so obsessed with Kahlen and Akinli’s relationship. Akinli is the absolute sweetest and I wish there were more people like him in the world.

In addition to my love for the characters, I really enjoyed the fantasy elements in this story. As I mentioned earlier, siren mythology is a part of this book. I loved Kiera Cass' take on it, as it was very engaging and paired with the imagery, I felt like I was immersed into the world.

I feel like this book does not get enough attention compared to Cass’ other works. If you are a lover of mythology, the friends to lovers trope, and Kiera Cass, please pick up the book and give it the attention it deserves!
