She's Too Pretty to Burn

Veronica and Nico are artists and friends. Veronica is a photographer and Nico does chaotic performance art. It is summer, and they are bored until Veronica meets Mick, her dream girl. Mick is a swimmer who has a toxic relationship with her mother. She ends up staying with Veronica and things start to get really crazy at this point.
She’s Too Pretty To Burn is a psychological thriller and a sapphic retelling of The Picture of Dorian Gray. I had never read Dorian Gray so really didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this. I loved the cover, which is what drew me into the book at first.
This was a roller coaster of a book with many twists and turns. I enjoyed the story although I did struggle to get into it at first. Once I was able to get into it, I was hooked though. I was invested in the characters and wanted to see what happened.
Art is a big part of this book, and I had no idea that environmental art installments were a thing. I liked reading this part of the story although it has some consequences that don’t end well. The ending of this book was extreme, but worked for the story.
