I loved this book, even if the ending was abrupt and unsatisfying and felt like it was forced by an editor. I would have been fine continuing to read White Teeth until all the characters died and I myself was an old man. It's a biography of countries and families, and is astonishing as the first book in what I hope will be an Earth-shattering career for Zadie Smith. Read this book if you love or hate England.
