Off Season
by Jodi Oliver
"He's the beauty, I'm the beast, and he's everything I've told myself I couldn't keep."
A hockey book that made me cry..
The emotions that jumped off the page..
Wow..
Ethan is the closed off captain of the Chicago Thunder that everyone looks up to but cant get close to.
Jacob is the owner of what is becoming the favorite bakery for the Chicago Thunder players, including the broody captain who he just so happens to have a secret crush on.. shhh!
The emotional ride that this book takes you on is so good. The descriptions of grief but also the coping are spot on, at least for me they were. Both of their pain was so easy to feel in each of their POV's that it was like talking to a friend and trying to support them but ultimately you can't. Jacob & Ethan's emotional pain is similar but so different that there is that bit of kinship in a way that made this book so good.
While this book is heavy in the feels there is the spice that we absolutely cannot forget about because oh boy was it finger licking or.. never mind, you'll find out if you read it ;)
The spicy scenes caught me by surprise but then again the grumpy ones are always the ones that surprise you the most when they find their sunshine.
I will say that the Ethan's mouth is FILTHY but damn if I didn't eat it up and smile the whole time!
I cannot wait for more in this world because I really did not want to leave them, I have questions but like any series they will come.. eventually.
