The Body in the Library
by Agatha Christie
As is often the case with Agatha Christie books, I sped through this book very quickly. It's intriguing and held my attention, and I did not guess either the identity of the murderer or how the murder was committed.
Unfortunately in many ways it was one of the most disappointing Christie novels I have read to date. The plot and especially the reveal felt convoluted, depending on too many unlikely scenarios. The detective work by the police felt quite competent so it was honestly annoying when Miss Marple came in and solved everything with minimal effort. There also a lot of classism expressed by multiple characters in the book aimed at the lower classes and I found it distinctly uncomfortable to read, especially when actually targeted at the murder victim.
The book definitely had its moments and overall I am glad I read it, but I doubt I'll ever bother with a reread.
