Piecing Me Together
by Renée Watson
Folks, this book was so good. There's intersectionality, there are people admitting their faults and learning, there is learning to speak up for yourself (and speaking up to adults! Which I would compare to speaking up to any authority, and it's super hard to do.) Jade is a great character. I kind of wish we had found out more about Maxine and Jon, but that's just a small quibble, and ultimately would have taken away from Jade's narration.
