Devils and Realist, Vol. 1 by Madoka Takadono, Utako Yukihiro
4.25

After really enjoying the anime adaptation of Devils and Realist it was inevitable that I would try the original manga (which I believe covers much more story as the anime only lasted 12 episodes). I'm glad to say I really enjoyed this first volume. The art style is generally good, though I do find some of the action scenes hard to figure out.

Set in a British boys' boarding school in the 19th century (a setting I wouldn't necessarily expect to see in a fantasy manga, but enjoy) this is a highly entertaining story of devils and angels forcing their way into the life of a human who really doesn't want them there. It does at times remind me a little bit of the TV series Lucifer (which is definitely a good thing).

There are also definite gay vibes here - without having read more I don't know if it ever goes beyond vibes (the anime did not) but the vibes are not subtle.

I already want to read volume two.
