One Hundred Years of Solitude was a long book, really dense, with little dialogues and loads of characters having the same name. It followed the story of a same family through seven generations. Lots of things have happened to them. There were births, deaths, marriages, wars, curses, madness. Some people came, some others left, some came back. It was tragic. It was mystical. It was epic. And it was a delight to read.
And despite how many times I thought about giving up reading this one, I just couldn't. I couldn't put it down and just forget about it. There is something about the writing, about the stories told, that was fascinating, gripping, beguiling.
The moment you get sucked into this book, you won't find yourself being the same in the end. I'm still very much confused about a lot of things that have happened, but wow. I know this book will be on the back of my head for a very long time.
It's one of those classics that I struggled with a lot, but am so very glad that I read.
