In the absence of the Eras Tour Heartbreak is the National Anthem: How Taylor Swift Reinvented Pop Music by Rob Sheffield is an incredibly sweet book of how Taylor Swift's story relates to the author's life an experiences. The book follows Taylor Swift's trajectory with some errors sometimes (the phone call was 27 seconds) while telling us how the author felt during those moments. I was expecting more of a linear timeline but this was also "nice." While I do disagree with a lot of the author's takes it was "nice" to see someone else's perspective on Taylor's amazing trajectory. I've said many times that Taylor Swift is so personal for all of us that it is refreshing to hear someone criticize her while also palpably loving her almost as much as I do lol.
If you are in the mood to read a book about Taylor's biggest accomplishments, downfalls, feuds, and heartbreaks this book will be perfect for you. If you don't like Taylor Swift then "get a job! Stay away from her!" as this might not be for you.
