Meanwhile, over in a Dystopian America....Women have been silenced!
They are no longer allowed to read, write, use phones, hold a job, and most scary of all, they are only allowed to speak a maximum 100 words a day!
To make sure that this is completely set in place, all women have been fitted with a beautiful bracelet, a little bit like a digital watch, it has a counter on it, but instead of telling the time, it slowly counts down from 100 every time you utter a word. When it gets down to zero you will receive an electric shock.
But don't feel it's just us poor old women that get the sh*tty end of the stick, no, the bracelet and the rules will also apply to young female children including babies!
A once brilliant minded Dr. Jean McClellan, a leading doctor in her field of Cognitive linguistics is now just a mother of 4, she is in the house just to cook, clean and wash like the dutiful housewife that she is!
She is however given a slight reprieve when her expertise is needed...to help a man!
With Flashbacks that show how women have been beaten down to nothing, while men are still allowed to do whatever they want, this Dystopian book will give you Handmaids Tale vibes, if you like that one, then you will probably love this book too.
