maahi 's review for:
The Bollywood Affair
by Gauri Sinh
The Bollywood Affair follows detective duo Akruti and Parvati as they attempt to uncover a crime that keeps getting increasingly complicated. Set in the late 1990s, the book follows superstar RK as he is tormented by an unknown force. Is it a supernatural power, or a malicious someone out to get the man who apparently has it all?
Gauri creates an amusing picture of the Bollywood of the late 90s. The book is packed with so many twists and turns, it truly does remind me of a Bollywood movie! Yes, it’s impossible to believe - but that’s hardly the point. The point is to lose yourself in a world so different from our own, and I think Gauri does manage to build that.
I did like reading the book, it’s a good read to spend a couple of hours with. Nothing special, nothing too deep.
If you like over the top, ‘masaledar’ Bollywood movies, you’ll probably like this one!
