marita379 's review for:
Gossamer Axe
by Gael Baudino
This review comes in the form of a story:
Once upon a time (last night) on a dark and stormy (or at least very windy) night I asked my friend Steve to choose something at random from my TBR pile for me to read. He didn't choose this book. But as he was going through the pages of my kindle trying to pick something this book jumped out at me and demanded my attention. So I, like a good girl who knows not to ignore feelings like that started reading it.
And kept reading.
And kept reading.
I cancelled plans out with friends, I went to bed early so as not to be disturbed, I put on Celtic Woman on Spotify and, long story short, I was done with it the same night.
It's been a while since a book has done this to me. But this had Faerieland, and metal, and an ancient Irish lady trying to save her ladylove from the Celts, and an all girl metal band that battles the elves with the power of rock and roll and friendship, and it was everything I ever wanted.
Sorry for ignoring your recommendation Steve, but I am not regretting this choice.
(Actually 4.5 stars but rounding up because i teared up)
