Here After by Amy Lin

emotional sad fast-paced

“it’s not the one year of his death, it’s the one year of your survival” 😭💔

this book was absolutely heart wrenching and beautiful all at the same time. I had to keep stopping and reminding myself that this was indeed a memoir and not a fiction read - mostly because the mind dissociates death when it’s not closely related to you - and every passage just gave me the chills ❤️

as someone who has been through grief in a very similar manner, I applaud amy for putting every single emotion on paper. from allowing herself to be sad and take up space, to relating the dark thoughts about surviving without him, to simply existing because it’s impossible to do anything else… I’ve never felt more seen…

grief is a fickle beast - and there are so many passages and quotes I highlighted throughout this memoir because amy captured it perfectly. I wish with all of my heart that I could not relate to her story, but I’m glad to know that we aren’t alone, as much as it feels that way sometimes ❤️
