Finally read this book. It came out in my teens and I never came around to reading it - until now. It felt very nostalgic, because it's exactly the type of shortly after the Hunger Games YA-dystopia that I thought it would be. If you feel like reading something like it, I'd highly recommend. We got a teen going against an oppressive government, we got the other teen in said system, a lot of secrets to uncover and this thing were big important things are named in the most simple way (though I listened to it in German so idk if the original names are a little different) - "the big test" and "the republic" for example.
The story was well paced and moved really fast, which I liked, even though I could predict most of the major things that happenedcar accidents in which parents die are never just car accidents in these stories, Day saying he thought he gave good answers during the test and off hand comments on what happened after he "failed" the test, the fact that he knew the government would have the correct vaccine for whatever his brother had etc. . It was still very fun to listen to and the protagonists were interesting.
Nothing special but I think I would've loved it during my teens. Will definitely continue listening.
