First book of the spooky season did not disappoint. This book had the perfect vibes to start off with. I loved the premise of the book, with Molly trying to become a surgeon with her knowledge of the dead from her job. I enjoyed the little mystery too but it felt pushed to the background at times.
I liked how they incorporated Ava’s story into Molly’s in between chapters but it would be more interesting if it was really Molly and how she ended up. Not everything must have a happy ending.
The twist wasn’t too shocking to me, I don’t know if it was because of the mystery going in and out of the background or because we barely saw Ava or both. I did not like that she died so quickly either.
The author did a good job with the unlikeable characters like Edgar and Dr. LaValle, and the Tooth Fairy was downright disgusting.
The romance between Molly and Tom was cute and Tom reminded me a bit of Jack from Caraval. With his personality.
