I had high expectations going into this after loving the first book, and I was not disappointed. Return to Roar has all the charm and whimsy of book 1, but with a much stronger plot and better character work, especially for Rose.
Roar is such an imaginative place, and we see much more of it this time. The villain, Crowky, is appropriately creepy and sinister, and at times the book is quite tense.
As with the first book, the illustrations are gorgeous, and I love the cover design especially when you unfold the French flaps.
I have already preordered Battle for Roar!
