I liked the atmosphere of this book, it does give similar vibes to Yellowjackets.
I don’t know what to make of it to be honest, mostly because it felt too short and like we were thrown in right in the middle of the story. I am not a fan of the ambiguous ending as well. Basically felt like just reading the middle of the book.
It left so many unanswered questions about the Tox, the experiments, Camp Nash, and their parents.
I understand the “Thelma & Louise” aspect of the relationship between Hetty and Reese but I didn’t like that they had left the other girls behind with the bear. I also feel like they could have taken jackets or the hospital blankets/sheets so they wouldn’t freeze to death after it was mentioned that it was freezing and that it was snowing.
Maybe I’m behind but I feel like the cause of the Tox and why they were kept on the island for so long was never fully explained which took away from the book.
I did like the gore and the concept of the Tox, very creepy.
