And I Darken
by Kiersten White
Often I'll glance at blurbs as I put them on my wishlist at the library, or on hold ... and when they come in, I start them up without refreshing my memory on what to expect. As this started up, with Vlad Dracul, I thought it was going to be about vampires. I like vampire stories, but more contemporary or futuristic ones, not "Dracula" ones. Well ... NO vampires.
I've labeled this as "historical" in MY list ... this wasn't an actual history of the Ottoman Empire, but that was the setting of the story. Rulers and wars. Very complex. It spans many years, and we get to see several characters grow up.
I was never sure where the story was going, it kept me guessing and intrigued the entire time.
I put book 2 on hold ...
