Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Misrule has restored my faith in sequels. This book did an amazing job of allowing its characters from the first book to grow, while still retaining who they are at the core. The humorous reprieve that the imps provided truly balanced out this story, and the aspects of political intrigue entwined with Alyce's romantic distraction was extremely well done. The 100 year time jump had me concerned, but I shouldn't have doubted Walter's ability to bring our characters back to life in an amazing way. This book could stand on its own, but tying it in with the first book further emphasizes the experiences and world-building.
Heather Walter has truly created an amazing duology, and I cannot emphasize enough how much I enjoyed this book.
