I enjoyed the desolate setting and the tough characters in this book. I felt as though the storytelling was uneven, and was frustrated at times at how much detail was given to some characters and not enough to others. Overall, I really liked how Madeleine realizes that no person or life is perfect, but life if what you make of it and to have reward, there must be risk.
