Child of the Prophecy
by Juliet Marillier
This one is a bit slow to start. I had started it a few years ago and put it down, I re-started recently and once I got about 100 pages in I was more interested in the story. Reading Marillier’s books always feels so familiar and cozy. I enjoyed the settings created in the book between the traveling folk and their camp as well as the warrior school. I felt that the circumstances made Fainne a bit unlikable, but I did enjoy it in the end. This book is a bit older, but I didn’t care for the language that her love interest used around her needing “someone to look after her” or that she was a “danger to herself” etc. I’m excited to keep reading books in this world over time!
