This middle grade book is about a neurodivergent boy who gets kicked out of school and goes to live with his mom on a reserve. He has never actually met her and doesn't know anything about his Indigenous heritage but he meets the quirky girl next door (whom he later finds out is sick) and learns from her and his family what it means to be Native American. The book is also about acceptance, grief, loss, gain, and family.
