This is a funny, lovely, nostalgic, wonderful book about the Shire Horses bred in a small English village. Great reading for those interested in the English countryside, preservation of communities not just buildings, and a rural way of life, great reading for horse lovers and those who grew up or still live in the country themselves . . . you will recognize many of the personalities in this book even though they are an ocean and a generation or two away !
