The Son & His Hope
by Pepper Winters
3.5 stars.
I’m unsure what to feel about this book. Obviously it’s a love story for the ages, but I struggled, a lot, with Jacob’s character. For the majority of the book I just didn’t like him. I thought he was a spoiled brat. Sure, he’s been through a lot, but Hope had been through just as much. And okay, the diagnosis at the end kind of makes it not acceptable to say that, but it’s how I feel.
From about 85% in, it was a great love story, one worthy of his parents, but it took a while for me to get into it.
Still, I know people will love this book, just as they loved his parents. It’s not a favourite for me, but it is one heck of a story.
