The Last Story of Mina Lee by Nancy Jooyoun Kim
4.0

I finished this book in a matter of hours! The book is engaging.
We get 2 perspectives, Mina and her daughter Margot. Mina is a war orphan who in 1987 makes her way to LA. She doesn't speak much English and prefers her native Korean. In 2014, Margot heads to LA with a friend who moves for a job and to see her mother. She gets worried when she can't get ahold of her mom. They might not understand each other (Margot refuses to learn Korean anymore at a certain age so a lot of their conversations are stilted) but they love each other.
This book will stay with the reader for awhile. It's a great look into a not perfect relationship but it shows that starting over can heavily impact a family's lives.
