bahareads 's review for:
Where the Red Fern Grows
by Wilson Rawls
(2015) This was a re-read for me. I really enjoyed this book for the second time around, my eyes even teared up a little. This was a really great book, it will always have a place on my shelf and in my heart.

(2020) “It's strange indeed how memories can lie dormant in a man's mind for so many years. Yet those memories can be awakened and brought forth fresh and new, just by something you've seen, or something you've heard, or the sight of an old familiar face.”
( Where the Red Fern Grows has a special place in my heart. It'll always be in my memories, when my mother read it to me and when I read it to my siblings.)
Where the Red Fern Grows is a simple, yet heart-wrenching book. Rawls has the ability to make one believe they are right there with Billy as he is going throughout his day. I'm not even that fond of animals but I love Old Dan and Little Ann. The buildups throughout Where the Red Fern Grows brings the reader along on a rollercoaster of emotions. I cried at the places where one should cry and laughed where one should laugh. I fought the coons along with Dan and Anne and I was as proud as Billy when it came to their performances. It is a rollercoaster of emotions.
