Burial Rites
by Hannah Kent
The writing of Burial Rites chilled me. It was just so good, so beautiful, so subtle, it somehow makes me think of a delicate flower. A lot of people say that this book is really atmospheric and I have to agree. I put this book on my tbr list in 2014 because of the beautiful lettering on the cover and had no idea what this book was about. In 2015 I finally succumbed and bought a copy (thanks to bookdepository for hosting those beautiful flash sales), when it arrived I almost weeped with joy because my copy has an all black spine (even the paper side) and it was just so fucking beautiful. When I read it I actually had to caress the book because of how beautiful it was. Though the ending disappointed me a little (I never like it when a book ends with Death. I'm so naive, I thought Agnes was going to get a happy ending) but all in all it was a great read. Would definitely re-read this book sometime soon.
