Extremely good. Many of the themes and world-building from early in the first book pay off spectacularly in plot-intensive ways in this one. As rich in exploring moral / thematic dilemmas as the first book. Given the shift in perspective though, I think this book lost a bit of the literariness that made Hyperion so good.
